چکیده مقاله:

Background: There is a low threshold of pain in newborns, especially premature infants, who are extremely sensitive to pain and painful procedures by showing a strong response. This study aimed to determine the effect of facilitated tucking with simulated hands on physiological factors of pain during venipuncture in premature infants. Methods: This experiment was conducted on preterm infants admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit of Amin and Shahid Beheshti hospitals in Isfahan, Iran in 2016. In total, 66 patients were selected through convenience sampling and were randomly assigned to the intervention (N=33) and control (N=33) groups. In the intervention group, venipuncture procedure was performed as infants were placed in the facilitated tucking position using simulated hands. Data were collected applying the new Iranian S1800 monitors for hemodynamic control. Data analysis was performed in SPSS version 18 using Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Chi-square, independent t-test and repeated measures ANOVA. Results: In this research, a statistically significant difference was observed between the mean of arterial oxygen saturation and respiratory rate of the intervention and control groups (P

The Effect of Facilitated Tucking During Venipuncture on Pain and Physiological Parameters in Preterm Infants

Background: Infants who hospitalized in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit are routinely undergoing painful procedures which perhaps has negative impacts on their CNS. Facilitated Tucking is one of the methods of pain relief for these neonates. Aim: To examine the effect of Facilitated Tucking during Venipuncture on pain and physiological parameters in premature infants. Method: In this experimental ...

The Effect of Facilitated Tucking (FT) During Venipuncture on Duration of Crying in Preterm Infants

Abstract Introduction Humans in the last trimester of gestation are assumed to be in a pain-free environment in the womb, but those neonates who are born preterm often spend weeks in the Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and undergo numerous painful procedures as part of their routine care. Materials and Methods In this semi-experimental study, 70 preterm infants born at average 32 to 36 week...

Effects of Facilitated Tucking On Duration and Frequency of Crying During Rest among Hospitalized Premature Infants: A Randomized Clinical Trial

Background: Infants born prematurely experience more self-regulation problems in comparison to term infants. Increasing crying in premature infants can disrupt sleep and awaking pattern and it can increase stress. This study aimed to determine the effects of facilitated fetal tuckingon duration and frequency of crying amongpremature infants. Materials and Methods: This randomized, clinical tria...

The effect of EMLA cream on minimizing pain during venipuncture in premature infants.

BACKGROUND Painful procedures for premature infants in neonatal intensive care units remain inevitable. The goal of this study is to evaluate the effect of an eutectic mixture of local anesthetic (EMLA) cream for minimizing pain in premature infants during venipuncture in neonatal intensive care units. METHODS This study enrolled 32 premature infants. A repeated-measures design was used. The ...
